Happy holidays!

The school year is over... 2015 has been an intense year, with lots of shared work and new experiences. Before the well-deserved holidays, let's share some end-of-year news...

Year 7 says goodbye and "We'll miss you, Misio!". Click on this link to see all of Year 7B messages: http://es.padlet.com/lauragiancarlo/feixqtap55mc

Our last school week: Y7 visits Anna Frank's house and Y5 plays MysterySkype

On the last Monday of the school year we had many exciting activities. Year 5B played MysterySkype with a school in Przemysl, Poland. A difficult town to guess... but they finally got there! Also Year 5A had a big challenge in MysterySkype.. their partners' town was...Llandudno, in Wales (UK).. and they also got there! Congrats to both Year 5's!!!!

Below you can read part of the transcripts of the game (we couldn't actually use Skype so we played through a chat room). A big thank you to the teachers and students in both partner schools: http://zszoi.edu.pl/ and http://www.sansior.co.uk/

Year 5A celebrating they found their partners' town: Llandudno, in Wales (UK)

Year 7 visited Anne Frank's house in Buenos Aires. They had read part of The Diary on Anne Frank in Portuguese (7A&B) and in English (7B). We were shown pictures and objects and we were told about Anna's life and family and especially about the historical background of the holocaust. We all learned a lot in the visit.. A strong, moving experience...

A bit of poetry

Year 6B read two poems by British Jamaican writer Benjamin Zephaniah: "A Day in the Life of Danny the Cat" and "Danny lives on". Students talked about their pets' habits and some of them created a poster about them. We talked about the the harm fireworks cause to animals (and to people, especially children) every end of year. Benjamin Zephaniah, A Day in the Life of Danny the Cat

Danny wakes up
Eats
Finds a private place in the garden,
He returns
Plays with the plants
And sleeps.

Danny wakes up
Eats
Inspects the garden
Finds a cosy place
And sleeps.

Danny wakes up
Comes indoors
Inspects the carpet
Scratches himself
And sleeps.

Danny wakes up
Goes in the garden
Over the fence
Has a fight with Ginger
Makes a date with Sandy
Climbs on to next door's shed
And sleeps.

Danny wakes up
Comes indoors
Rubs up the chair leg
Rubs up a human leg
Sharpens his claws
On a human leg
Eats
And sleeps.

Danny wakes up
Eats
Watches a nature programme
Finds a private place in the garden,
Finds Sandy in next door's garden
Next door's dog finds Danny
Sandy runs north
Danny runs home
Eats an sleeps.

December is here...

Year 5 A & B worked on comic strips together with their Spanish teacher. They showed their work in an open-class with their parents. In English, they chose a character and wrote a short profile about them. Here's the link: http://es.padlet.com/lauragiancarlo/dg8v5kc4bkmp They also read a comic strip about The Super Six. They analysed the dangers each Super Hero fought against to protect children.

Year 6B analyzed values in Robin Hood characters, both in Portuguese and English. Some values they  found are: being brave, solidary, humble, hard-working, wise, ethical... Then, they created a poster about "Role Models of Argentinian values" and shared it with their partners in India who in turn sent a similar poster about India. Have a look: http://es.padlet.com/lauragiancarlo/jh9atu8iktyq
They also made posters about routines. One about daily routines and one about weekend routines. For  both they discussed the influence of immigration in our lives, following the wonderful project they had worked on with their Social Studies teacher.
