A fantastic start for this school year!

2015 school year has started with lots of exciting news!

In February we welcomed Ms Analía Figliola, our new English teacher! And we have already shared so many magical moments in only a couple of months! Thanks a lot and we look forward to a fantastic time together!

As part of the Connecting Classrooms Programme, we had mutual teacher-visits with our partner school in Norwich (St Augustine's Catholic Primary School) in February and March. Ms Laura Giancarlo visited Norwich in February and Mr Philip Dodson came to Buenos Aires in March. Huge thanks to the British Council for granting us this wonderful learning opportunity! It has been an amazing experience for our schools communities and we are eager to share all we have learned!

Special congratulations to Escuela 9's students and teachers who participated enthusiastically in our intercultural projects and made Mr Dodson feel so welcome! During his week visiting our school, he took part in our classes, talked to the children about Norwich and the UK and answered their questions. He was amazed at how confident they are when speaking English. Kids had done some previous research on the UK and had prepared some posters and 3D displays of famous English sites, Premier League football clubs, English music bands... and even a puppet of Mr Dodson himself! They had also been working on a song by Paul Mc Cartney "The Pipes of Peace" which they sang live and also recorded for their partners in Norwich. (They in turn sent their own recording of the song to us). Profe Sandra worked with Year 6 on some beautiful posters in Portuguese to show Mr Dodson some information about us and places in Latin America, especially our neighbouring country Brazil. La Señorita Laura worked on welcoming posters with Year 5 and participated in class talks about Norwich and the UK. La Señorita Nerina organized a "mateada" for Mr Dodson in Year 4 with all kinds of mates and a special one with the name of our school and a map of Misiones for him to take home.

Mr Dodson was able to spend a day at the Argentinian countryside and try our famous asado together with the teachers of our school, their families and our English Supervisor.. Also, we had a folk dance show by our librarían Graciela and her family. Special thanks to Ms Analìa and her family for a fantastic day!

April was an intense month too with new projects around Mafalda, celebrating her 50th anniversary, and the preparation of two new activities for this year: a theatre company visiting us and some of our older students sitting for the CLE English exams too.
